Image via WikipediaGood day! In the email category - I got a note the other day from a listener who said that no one ever mentions the loyal group of Michael Waltrip fans. The emailer said that although the broadcasters mention the “Said heads” and the “Blaniacs” they never mention the “Wal-Nutz.” Now, I’m not going to lie to you I had not ever heard of the Wal-Nutz, although I have had a bunch of Michael Waltrip fans on the air over the years- but I mentioned this email on the air about the Wal-Nutz and and since then have heard from a number of this band of Waltrip fans. They sound to me to be fun loving and extremely devoted to Michael Waltrip.

I say again as I have said before, die hard fans die hard and often inside for their driver and it’s always good to hear about or meet fans who are not just cheering for a guy who wins every week but for any guy who maybe struggles and doesn’t win all the time -and still his fans are behind him. That’s character -and I wish this group well. Thanks for the emails.

Just wanted to thank you for mentioning Michael Waltrip’s fans, the Wal-Nutz. I have been a Mikey fan for many years and am very happy to be a member of the Wal-Nutz.

I live in Iowa, so the only race that I can attend is at Kansas Speedway. If you saw a sign in the Tradin’ Paint audience the last two years at Kansas that said “Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Wal-Nutz”, that was me!!!

Besides cheering for Mikey, the group has donated money to charities that he supports.

Hi Claire,

Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate any coverage of MWR drivers, crew, and of course our head nut Michael. The teams are hanging in there and obviously doing better than in 2007 but we have our hearts set on seeing one of MWR’s Toyota Camry’s in Victory Lane this year. It may be a lot to ask for but we believe in thinking positive and one way for the sponsors to know we’re out here supporting all of them through MWR is to hear David, Michael, and Mc D’s names often. It really means a lot to us.

I’m just another one of the Wal-Nutz, aka Michael Waltrip fans,
emailing you to ask you to send the #55 car around for us! We sure do
hope that Michael gets into the All-Star race this weekend either by
racing his way in or by being voted in.

Thursdays are the best - I listen to your show on my commute home and
then I listen to Michael’s show immediately following. Unfortunately for
me since I commute from New York to New Jersey I’m often stuck in
traffic and still in the car then but listening to your awesome show and
Michael’s show helps make it easier to handle!

As always, thanks for all the great interviews and all - I love that
you’ve been having some of the Camping World East and West Series
drivers on! It’s hard to find coverage of the East and West Series so
listening to your show is a great way of keeping up with what’s going on
with the drivers in those series - in any series really!
