Image via WikipediaCBL E:MAILS: I got a pile of emails on ESPN’s moving the live telecast of Friday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Lipton Tea 250 at Richmond International Speedway tonight from ESPN2 to a simulcast on ESPN Classic and Speed as well as ESPN360.com. The change was made to accommodate NBA playoff game six between Washington and Cleveland. ESPN will replay the race at approximately 9:30 p.m. after the game. Here’s a cross section of my mail box:

I’m glad ESPN made a decision even if it is wrong. IMHO any sport that ever had a strike and canceled an event does not deserve to be on TV.

Since we lost the entire prerace show at Phoenix to the restart of the Boston/Yankee game, Fox is as guilty as ESPN or ABC.

But in Los Angeles we have REAL issues with ABC. Last year one of the chase races was moved off ABC to a digital ABC channel so that we could watch Malibu burn for 5 hours. If you didn’t have digital tiers you couldn’t watch the race. Mind you every other news station was on the fire but Fox, who went to Football, so there were lots of places to watch Malibu burn but no where to watch the race.

Then the last, most important, race of the year at Homestead, instead of the hour plus prerace show to build up all the drama of the day to come, local ABC decided to show us back to back episodes of Zach and Cody.

And they wonder why they can’t build up a fan base in Southern CA.

To much is being made of this. I think they have made every effort to accomodate the fans. With all the stations that will be showing it live and replay I think they have made it accessible to everyone.
Other events have been moved like this before I am sure you can confirm this.

I do not believe that if it was the Cup that they would have moved Nascar because it is Nationwide but at least they are trying.

I don’t watch ball sports so I could care less about the b-ball playoff….So if they think the Busch race is not important enough to run it live or on the regular channell …Then it’s not important enough for me to stay up and watch the tape delayed version or bother to try and find it….Vote Robbie (Gordon) in….

Why does Nascar always take a back seat to NFL, NBA and other sports? I unfortunately do not get ESPN 360 or Classic, what does that me for my area?
